It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Bing Crosby

This one always put me in a particular type of Christmas mood - anticipatory, with some childlike whimsy and a Norman Rockwell filter for good measure.

Not a huge fan of the assumption that boys want boots and guns and girls want dolls, but no piece of pop culture from the 50’s is going to be without its issues. There’s a reason I’m not wading into the “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” arena (although I do like that song, too). I’ve widened the scope of these formerly gendered toys with a text addendum so all the kids can play with whatever they want to 😝

Also, when I was younger I thought Bing Crosby was some sort of weird version of Bill Cosby. Took me years to realize they are, in fact, just two different people with names that share several letters.
